Muh-Dear
African American Slang for Mother Dear
A Tribute to My Mother and Yours
Descendants of Kings and Queens from far distant shores,
to all mothers of African descent,
who survived the middle passage from Africa to this American Continent,
who despite slavery, oppression and apartheid, still maintained
their dignity and pride,
who picked and chopped cotton in the fields from Alabama to
Tennessee and yet, still found time to show love, compassion and
care for you and me,
who scrubbed clothes on boards, boiled them in big black pots and
hung them on the line,
who produced massive sons and daughters, oh so fine,
who suckled many children from her breast,
who over the years has passed every test,
who surely stands a notch above the rest,
who gave us humility, courage and strength devoid of fear.
When I reminisce about your long commitment and dedication to
motherhood,
I shed a joyful tear.
With Love and Honor,
