Isiah Daniels-Saafir

Mr. Isiah Daniels-Saafir passed away December 31, 2015 in Sugar Land, TX. He was 94 Years old.

Mr. Daniels-Saafir was born April 18, 1921 in Midway, Alabama, to parents Isiah and Anna Daniels. He married Clara Woodard in 1946 and relocated to Akron, Ohio. Mr. Daniels-Saafir worked at A. Schulman Manufacturing and was also the elected UAW Representative of his fellow union members. He was also an entrepreneur, having businesses in electronics repair and a thriving grocery business.

He and his wife Clara retired to Tuskegee, Alabama, in 1978. Mr. Daniels-Saafir was always a hard worker and believed in self-reliance. He continued his entrepreneurial spirit in Tuskegee with farming and as a paper distribution contractor with the Montgomery Advertiser. He loved working the land and sold his prized vegetables for many years to grocers and neighbors in the community.

Mr. Daniels-Saafir was instrumental in the founding of the Tuskegee Islamic Community, Inc.

In 2010, he and his wife were recognized for over 50 years of outstanding services in the Muslim communities associated with The Honorable Elijah Muhammad and Imam W. Deen Mohammed.

Mr. Daniels-Saafir was preceded in death by his son O'Dell Daniels, Sr., sister Lonnie, brothers Steve, Robert, KT and Fred. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Clara, daughter Jacquelyn Daniels-Sharkey, his sons Embree, Isiah and Rafael. He was also blessed with eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Adell Penicks and Ruby Mickles, a host of nieces and nephews, and family.
