Miss Ivy Rose Rodgers

Miss Ivy Rodgers was born in Perth Amboy New Jersey on September 17,1971. She was the second of two children born on that day to the late Napoleon and Edith C. Rodgers. She has a twin brother, Ivan Napoleon Rodgers ,who was four minutes older than his sister. Ivy graduated with honors from St. Michael’s Catholic School. She attended Timothy Christian School and graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1989. She also attended Lincoln College in Pennsylvania and Kean College in New Jersey. She worked in New Jersey as a Toll Collector on the New Jersey Turnpike and later as a cashier for Home Depot. In 2010 she transferred from Home Depot in New Jersey to Home Depot in Montgomery, Alabama when she came to live with her parents who built a home in Bullock County, Alabama, after approximately 5 years at Home Depot she sought employment elsewhere and was employed as a cashier at Troy University In Troy, Alabama. She worked there until 2020 when everything shut down due to COVID-19. Ivy loved animals especially dogs. She leaves to mourn her passing “her baby” Hercules, a white Labrador mix, Scruffy a Labradoodle and Little Bear a Labrador mix. Also she had a Sugar Glider( a flying squirrel) Sugar Mama, who is about 8 years old. Ivy was a Faithful Member of Second Baptist Church-The Cathedral International in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. She attended Mt. Hillard Baptist Church in Perote, Alabama and was secretary of the Sunday School. She was a Silver Life Member of the Bullock County NAACP Branch #5066, where she served as Assistant Secretary. Ivy loved to cook and was a good cook. She loved cartoons, Mike and Molly, Young Sheldon, Hunter and Keeping up appearances. She loved and trusted the Lord and was called home Feb 13,2023 after a brief illness. She was and (always will be) a “Jersey Girl”.
