Mrs. Clara Daniels-Saafir passed away on April 30. 2022 in Sugarland, Texas at the age of 95 years old.
Mrs. Daniels -Saafir was born February 26, 1927 in Midway, Alabama to parents Norman and Julia Woodard.
Clara Woodard and Isiah Daniels were married in 1946, then relocated to Akron, Ohio.
Mr. Daniels- Saafir worked full time at A. Shulman Manufacturing, a rubber manufacturer in Akron.
The couple were partners in being entrepreneurs. Operating a thriving neighborhood grocery store and a TV
repair business, from the same location located a block from their home.
In 1978 they retired to Tuskegee, Alabama, a small city, not far from where they met. Mrs. Daniels-Saafir continued
to support her husband in his entrepreneurial endeavors. They farmed the large land holdings with various crops and
also had a newspaper distribution business with the Montgomery Advertiser. They sold their fresh vegetables to local
stores and neighbors in the area, not far where they met.
Their 5 children were often visitors, especially on holidays to their home. Events the whole family enjoyed, joined by
their grandchildren and great grandchildren.
They were instrumental in the founding of the Tuskegee Islamic Community, Inc.
In 2010, the couple were recognized for providing over 50 years to the Islamic Communities associated with the
Honorable Elijah Muhammad and Imam W. Deen Muhammad.
Mrs. Daniels-Saafir was proceeded in death by her husband Isiah, son Odell Daniels Sr. (Rita) and son Isiah III.
She was also blessed with 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Embree, her daughter Jacquelyn, and her youngest son Rafael (Lisa) and a host of nieces and nephews.
